description:	HCV-positive serum C17, affinity-purified using the HCV-specific phage-displayed peptide P1909 (KTRRNTNYQ), reacted with the peptide HCV 1-72, containing the epitope. Similar results were obtained with HCV-positive sera affinity-purified using one of a group of HCV-specific phage-displayed peptides with homology to the epitope. The epitope of the sera is deduced based on the homology to the aligned phage-displayed peptides.
