name:
Acute-phase-specific heptapeptide epitope for diagnosis of parvovirus B19 infection.
description:
This sequence codes for the major coat protein (VP1), and also for the major capsid protein (VP2, last 555 aa).
Antibody reactivity from acute phase infection sera was observed in 4 contiguous spots from peptide blotted membrane. The overlapping region, residues 292-302, was thus considered to constitute an antigenic region. Past-immunity patients didn't show activity, implying this is an acute phase specific epitope.
