Use of overlapping synthetic peptides to characterize samples from blood donors with indeterminate results to hepatitis C virus core antigen.
|
| description: |
Single serum samples from 87 blood donors were screened for reactivity to overlapping peptides spanning c22-3. Among samples positive or indeterminant for core in RIBA-3, the peptide reactivities concentrated mainly in the N-terminal half of the molecule (the first five overlapping peptides) and secondarily in the central portion represented by peptides 6, 7, and 8. By contrast, reactivity to the first peptide was clearly dominant among the RIBA-3-negative samples, with just a small participation of other epitopes (mainly peptides 5 and 6).
