Sera from mice immunized with the epitope as presented within a recombinant construct of hepatitis B virus small envelope protein (sAg) particles bound the epitope. Immunization with both HBV sAg particles expressing this HCV 1a epitope and particles expressing the homologous HCV 1b epitope enhanced recognition. Recognition of the epitope was present through day 210 post-immunization.
