The authors deduced that MAb 1D11 recognizes the epitope based on its reactivity with a panel of 33 overlapping peptides covering residues 1683-1750 of the NS4 protein from HCV subtypes1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 4, 5, and 6. The epitope is genotype-independent and recognized in HCV subtypes 1a, 1b, and 3a.
