Sera from NS3-immunized mice reacted with rNS3 (1207-1612) but did not react significantly with the epitope. Low level antibody reactivity to a panel of 40 overlapping 16-mer peptides spanning residues 1207-1612 of HCV NS3 protein was observed in H-2 congenic B10 mice, leading the authors to conclude that the antigenic determinants were predominantly discontinuous or dependent on conformation.
