Blood samples from confirmed scrapie-infected sheep competed with FITC-labeled epitope for binding to MAb 12F10, which recognizes the epitope. The ratio of labeled immunocomplex and free epitope detected using capillary electrophoresis was used to confirm the presence of PrP in the sheep blood.
