The purified epitope-specific mAb 16.22 was incubated with B. burgdorferi B31 for 24 hours, and a significant fraction (90%) of the organisms were no longer viable. MAb 16.22 was found to effectively inhibit B31-OspC-A-type spirochete growth and morphologically eliminated the motility and disrupt the spirochetes using both the microscopic and colormetric assays.
