| name: |
Characterization of a unique borreliacidal epitope on the outer surface protein C of Borrelia burgdorferi.
|
| description: |
This peptide comes from the OspC protein of Borrelia burgdorferi strain 1C.
Synthetic peptides were used to confirm the epitope specificity of the mAb. Reactive peptides contained a double-lysine motif (KXK), and came from Borrelia OspC C types 1A, 1B, and 1C. The OspC peptide also blocked reactivity of the mAb to both OspC 1A and purified OspC B31 proteins. Peptides containing only one lysine each were nonreactive. These nonreactive peptides correspond to sequences found in OspCs from N40, a B. burgdorferi sensu stricto isolate, and PTrob, a B. garinii strain.
