name:
Antibody responses to hepatitis C virus hypervariable region 1: evidence for cross-reactivity and immune-mediated sequence variation.
description:
The sequence is from hypervariable region 1 (HVR1
amino acids 391-406) of the HCV E2 protein from the dominant sequence isolated from HCV-infected patient C at baseline.
A patient's sera cross-reacted with the epitope, but did not react with peptide P2, the sequence of which was derived from another infected patient and shares 5 positions. Binding of the patient's sera to the epitope was inhibited 25.2% (<50% considered not significant) by absorption of the sera with immobilized peptide P2.
