The O-PS from this strain is made of repeating units of alpha-L-Rhap-(1&rarr 3)alpha-L-Rhap(1&rarr 2)-alpha-D-Galp-(1&rarr 3)alpha-D-GclpNAc. This trisaccharide, synthesized as the methyl-glycoside, with a methyl group linked to the anomeric carbon of the reducing end galactose, competes the binding to S.dysenteriae LPS of 2 mAbs raised against S.dysenteriae.
