name:
Antibody response profiles induced by Plasmodium falciparum glutamate-rich protein in naturally exposed individuals from a Brazilian area endemic for malaria.
description:
Antibody response to Plasmodium falciparum glutamate-rich protein (GLURP) peptides were evaluated in naturally exposed individuals from the Brazilian Amazon region. The frequencies of response to this peptide was significantly higher compared with the other peptides. The number of recognized peptides was higher in older individuals and increased with time of residence in the malaria-endemic area, but was negatively associated with the number of previous malaria episodes. HLA typing studies showed that the antibody responses appeared to be modulated by HLA class II antigens.
