| name: |
Chimeric monoclonal antibodies to hypervariable region 1 of hepatitis C virus.
|
| description: |
This 15-mer peptide was derived from the HVR1 of the HCV polyprotein (strain G3959).
Thirty-seven HVR1 peptides were tested against HVR1-specific chimeric antibodies (cAb) and standard mAbs to determine the cross-reactivity and specificity of the cAbs. The cAbs and mAbs (2P24 and 15H4) reacted with 32 of 37 HVR1 peptides. Reactivity for cAbs and mAbs were similar. In separate experiments, both antibodies were also found to capture HCV from the plasma of patients and inhibit the binding of HCV to Molt-4 cells.
