name:
Effect of sequence variation in Plasmodium falciparum histidine- rich protein 2 on binding of specific monoclonal antibodies: Implications for rapid diagnostic tests for malaria.
description:
This epitope occurs in other positions (179-186, 200-207) within the source protein.
The epitope of the monoclonal antibody 1E1-A9 was determined by epitope mapping using synthetic peptides derived from the source protein (histidine rich protein, from 46 isolates of Plasmodium falciparum); substitutions of D or V for the first or last amino acid, respectively, still allows binding to mAb 1E1-A9. The minimal epitope, determined with glycine scanning, is AHHAHHV.
