Absence of antigenic diversity in Pf155, a major parasite antigen in membranes of erythrocytes infected with Plasmodium falciparum.
|
| description: |
The C-terminal end of the ring-infected erythrocyte surface antigen (RESA
Pf155) contains multiple tandem repeats of the epitope.
A mouse mAb, raised against the epitope, immunoblotted Pf155 from merozoite-enriched lysates from strains F32 (Tanzania), IMTM22/7G8 (Brazil), or Thai1 (Thailand). The authors show that Pf155 in lysates from all three strains is similar in size and antigenicity, and conclude that Pf155 is antigenically invariant.
