This peptide mimics epitopes on Plasmodium falciparum ring-infected erythrocyte surface antigen (RESA).
The monoclonal antibody, 18/2, raised against the C-terminal (residues 893-1073) of ring infected erythrocyte surface antigen (RESA) from Plasmodium falciparum, captured the mimotope from a random peptide phage display library. Subsequently, the mimotope was shown to bind to 18/2 by ELISA and western blot.
