| name: |
Isolation of peptides that mimic epitopes on a malarial antigen from random peptide libraries displayed on phage.
|
| description: |
This peptide mimics epitopes on Plasmodium falciparum ring-infected erythrocyte surface antigen (RESA). The motif (S/T)AVDD seems to be important for binding to the monoclonal antibody 18/2 since it also occurs in other mimotopes (that bind to 18/2).
Sera from individuals residing in Papua New Guinea, a malaria-endemic area, recognized the mimotope by ELISA.
