Enhanced epitopic response to a synthetic human malarial peptide by preimmunization with tetanus toxoid carrier.
|
| description: |
This epitope comprises the dodecapeptide repeat sequence from the circumsporozoite surface protein (CSP) of P. knowles.
Compared to animals that received no pretreatment, epitope-specific titers were suppressed after pre-immunization of mice with the tetanus-toxin (TT) carrier. IgG1 and IgG2b were the predominant subclasses involved in this response. Epitopic suppression was not linked to reduction in the antibody response to the carrier, which increased by day 21. The PK26 peptide had a tyrosine N-terminal and C-terminal cysteine.
