| name: |
Epitope-specific humoral immunity to Plasmodium vivax Duffy binding protein.
|
| description: |
Natural polymorphism is found at position 10 of this peptide. This region has been previously identified as containing a T cell epitope.
Sera samples from P.vivax exposed individuals were affinity purified towards this peptide and analyzed for reactivity to the cognate peptide and the natural variant peptide 308R. Similar levels of recognition are obtained for both peptides. Direct ELISA from whole serum of individuals recognizing this peptide showed that 56 reacted also to the variant peptide. For 9 individuals with differential recognition of the 2 peptides, 3 had significant preferential recognition of the cognate peptide.
