name:
Human antibodies to the 19kDa C-terminal fragment of Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 1 inhibit parasite growth in vitro.
description:
EGF2-affinity purified human IgG shows in vitro invasion inhibition activity, both on 3D7 and K1 forms of the parasite (which differ in 3 residues at this sequence), but the inhibition is more efficient for the 3D7 strain, with an EGF2 sequence identical to the one used for Ab affinity purification, suggesting that the antibodies may fucntion in an allele-specific manner.
