Development of two monoclonal antibodies against Plasmodium falciparum sporozoite surface protein 2 and mapping of B-cell epitopes.

| description: |
This sequence is deduced from epitope mapping studies with overlapping peptides to harbor a minimal region for mAb recognition between residues 425-428.
Peptide ELISA was performed to test the recognition of this sequence (as a tandem repeat of 3 copies) by serum of donors from malaria endemic areas (Indonesia and Kenya). 12/38 Indonesians and 9/33 Kenyan reacted with the peptide, most at low levels, except a Kenyan subject, who had a high reactivity to this peptide. These results demonstrate that humans living in P.falciparum malaria-endemic areas develop an antibody response to this epitope. .
