name:
A general strategy to identify mimotopes of pathological antigens using only random peptide libraries and human sera.
description:
Sera from individuals vaccinized with Hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBSAg) recognized a phage that displayed the epitope. Specificity of antibody recognition was demonstrated by competition ELISA with the epitope as both surface-bound antigen and free competitor for serum antibodies. Binding of the epitope to serun antibodies was also inhibited by two homologous phage peptides: CGPFYLSAPQC and CGPFFLSPTSC.
