Stimulation of a memory B cell response does not require primed helper T cells.
|
| description: |
Sera from mice immunized with the epitope reacted with a peptide fragment, preS 120-145, containing the epitope. The response was primarily IgG with IgM undetectable. Enhancement due to priming with the T helper epitope contained within residues 120-132 was studied through pre-immunization with the T helper epitope or immunization with a peptide containing both the epiope and the T helper epitope. The greatest antibody response was observed when preS 120-145, containing both the B and T cell epitopes, was used as both immunogen and boost, demonstrating memory B cells were responsible for this response.
