This peptide was selected from a 15-mer random library by its ability to bind mAb 18/4, which recognizes residues 28-37 of the pre-S1 region of HBsAg.
This peptide, as others with homology to the DPAF residues of HBsAg (positions 31-34), was selected by panning of a library with mAb 18/7. It was selected by an elution procedure where a step-wise decrease in the pH of the elution buffer proved to be effective in enhancing the relative affinity of the motifs isolated. Its reactivity was confirmed by immunoblot.
