description:	Core protein-stimulated T/B-cell cultures from chronic HBsAg carriers produced antibodies reactive with the epitope. This reactivity was not observed in asymptomatic carriers. Antibodies with specificity to the epitope were detected in the culture supernatant from those chronic carriers of HBsAg that had also produced anti-human serum albumin (HSA) antibodies after challenge with the recombinant HBc protein.
