Reactivity with the mAb to HBsAg in sera from infected patients including typical serotypes (genotypes A, B, C, D, and F) and atypical serotypes was tested by ELISA. This epitope was expressed by all isolates of genotype C and some of those of genotype D. I42, S43, I45 and F46 are critical residues for the expression of the epitope.
