| description: |
The ring-infested erythrocyte surface antigen (RESA) contains multiple repeats of sequence EENV.
The epitope-specific mAb 9B11 bound to air dried or fixed and dried preparations of P. falciparum infected RBCs. MAb 9B11 recognized various sexual stages of P. falciparum, including ring-infected erythrocytes, gametocytes, trophozoites, and schizonts. MAb 9B11 recognized RBCs infected with P. falciparum isolates (7G8, 1EC51, HB-3, W-2, T-4, FC-27, D-6, FCR-3, LE-5, and I-2) from different geographic areas (South and Central America, Asia, and Africa).
