name:
Identification of hepatitis A virus mimotopes by phage display, antigenicity and immunogenicity.
description:
The peptide has limited sequence homology to hepatitis A virus VP3 and VP1 capsid proteins.
The epitope was identified from one round of immunoselection with serum from a convalescent viral hepatitis A patient used on a phage display library of random nonapeptides fused to the N-terminus of the phage pIII capsid protein. The epitope was recognized by 26 of 28 sera from convalescent viral hepatitis A patients and one serum sample from a donor immunized with HAVRIX hepatitis A vaccine. The epitope had discontinuous sequence similarity to residues 69-83 (SDSVGQQIKVIPVDP) of VP3 capsid protein and residues 14-16 (SVT) and residues in the region 221-227 (KTDSTFG) of VP1 from HAV (strain HM-175).
