description:	Solubilized proteins from EHV-1 virions or infected cells were analyzed by Western immunoblot analysis using peptide-specific antibodies. The peptide-specific antibodies were purified by affinity chromatography, and were shown to bind a 55-kDa protein representing glycoprotein D. The specificity of each antibody was confirmed by the demonstration that the peptide blocked the reaction of the antibody with the 55-kDa EHV-1 virion protein.
