Epitope mapping of trans-sialidase from Trypanosoma cruzi reveals the presence of several cross-reactive determinants.
|
| description: |
The epitope is homologous to T. cruzi trans-sialidase residues residues 70-77, 494-501 and 526-534. Residues 70-77 contains a characteristic Asp box (SXDXGXTW) of microbial sialidases. Residues 523-538 form a highly flexible loop of the lectin-like domain.
Sera from mice immunized with phage particles displaying the epitope reacted with peptide 1441 (WQPIYGSTPVTPTGSC) based on residues 524-538 of T. cruzi trans-sialidase with an added C-terminal Cys. This is one region to which the epitope/mimotope has sequence homology.
