Sera from rabbits immunized with purified gD-1 reacted with the epitope in a dot blot. Both sera also reacted with the truncated 11-mer (DPNRFRGKDLP) and one serum reacted with the 7-mer (FRGKDLP). The authors conclude that the epitope sequence is from a region containing several overalpping epitopes.The peptides were synthesized with a C-terminal Cys residue.
