Residues at positions 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10 showed nonconservative aa changes between corresponding sequences for the glycoproteins D of HSV-1 and HSV-2.
A bright cytoplasmic fluorescence was seen, similar to the one observed with HSV-1-infected cells, suggesting that the differences in the virus sequences do not significantly affected antibody binding.
