name:
Experimental therapy of African trypanosomiasis with a nanobody-conjugated human trypanolytic factor.
description:
This branched high-mannose oligosaccaride (Man9-GlcNAc2) is expressed at the Variable surface Glycoproteins (VSG) of T. brucei brucei and T. b. rhodesiense.
Recognition of the purified VSG from T. b. brucei AnTat 1.1 is dependent on the presence of N-linked oligomannose as alpha-mannosidase treatment abolishes the recognition. VSGs from T.b. brucei MiTat 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 and from T. b. rhodesiense ETat 1.2 are also recognized.
