name:
Epitope size, specificity and equilibrium constant for four monoclonal antibodies binding to the O:4 polysaccharide antigen of Salmonella serogroup B bacteria.
description:
The epitope is part of the repeating structure of Salmonella serogroup B O-PS. It expresses the antigenic determinants O:4 and O:12.
The epitope is the minimal structure bound by the mAb. It is bound in direct ELISA when conjugated to BSA, and in inhibition Farr assay where it competes the binding to the dodecasaccharide [G(A)MR]3. The antibody is intrachain specific, since it does not bind to the AMRG tetrasaccharide. The presence of the O:5 determinant (Acetylation of Abe) is not required for recognition, while the mAb does not tolerate alpha-D-Glc linked to the Gal residue (O:122).
