name:
Epitope size, specificity and equilibrium constant for four monoclonal antibodies binding to the O:4 polysaccharide antigen of Salmonella serogroup B bacteria.
description:
The epitope is part of the repeating structure of Salmonella serogroup B O-PS. It expresses the antigenic determinants O:4 and O:12.
Recognition of the LPS of S. typhimurium SH 4809 and of other strains containing the O:4 determinant (SL 3622, SH 4305, SL 5313) is detected in direct ELISA by the epitope-specific mAb. The presence of the O:5 deteminant (Acetylation of Abe) as found in the natural LPS from this strain is not required for recognition, as S. essen LPS is reactive, while the presence of alpha-D-Glc linked to the Gal residue (O:122) slightly affects the recognition.
