The epitope was deduced.
The epitope was deduced by testing various LPS from Salmonella. Smooth LPS and Rough LPS from strains containing outer core residues are reactive. The sera reacted with sLPS from Salmonella bacteria of serotypes A to E, as well as with rough mutants containing outer core residues alpha-D-GlcNAc-(1→2)-alpha-D-Glc by ELISA and Western blot.
