name:
Immunological property of antibodies against N-glycolylneuraminic acid epitopes in cytidine monophospho-N-acetylneuraminic acid hydroxylase-deficient mice.
description:
The in vivo toxicity to epitope-expressing thymocytes and pancreatic islets from CMAH+/+ mice is detected in immunized cytidine monophospho–N-acetylneuraminic acid hydroxylase (CMAH) deficient (CMHA-/-) mice, seen as a failure to detect engrafted cells. Also in vitro Ab-mediated cytotoxicity is detected. In contrast, immunized CMAH-/- mice did not reject vascularized NeuGc-expressing heart grafts, even if exogenous rabbit complement was added.
