name:
Shigella flexneri O-antigen epitopes: chemical and immunochemical analyses reveal that epitopes of type III and group 6 antigens are identical.
description:
This determinant, known as O antigen 6, is part of the O-PS of S. flexneri of several serotypes, such as 1b, 3a, 3b and 4b.
Removing of O-acetyl groups from LPS completely abolished the epitope-specific mAb binding in ELISA suggesting O-acetyl group as a essential component of epitope. Similar result was observed in passive hemagglutination assay.
