| name: |
Definition of Brucella A and M epitopes by monoclonal typing reagents and synthetic oligosaccharides.
|
| description: |
The M antigen is a homopolymer of 4,6-dideoxy-4-formamido-alpha-D-mannopyranose residues, where the repeating unit contains one alpha1,3-linked and four alpha1,2-linked monosaccharide residues.
The concentration of O polysaccharide needed to achieve 50% inhibition of binding of the epitope-specific mAbs to the B. melitensis O-PS was determined in competitive ELISA using monoclonal antibodies previously shown to bind to the epitope. The antibodies bind weakly to Y. enterocolitica O polysaccharide.
