description:	Rats immunized with the epitope conjugated to KLH yielded similar results. When the epitope was used as antigen without ovalbumin, the response was slightly decreased. Truncation of the N-terminus of the epitope to peptides of 16, 12, or 5 residues significantly decreased the response. Similar results were observed by Western blot with the epitope alone or the epitope conjugated to KLH as antigen.
