Primary antiphospholipid syndrome: features of patients with raised anticardiolipin antibodies and no other disorder.
|
| description: |
Twenty patients, 18 female and 2 male, were tested for antibodies to cardiolipin. Fourteen patients had raised IgG antibodies, 12 had raised IgM, and six had both. Nine out of 19 had raised antinuclear antibody levels; however, none fulfilled criteria for the diagnosis of SLE. Seven patients had a history of venous thrombosis. Of the 15 female patients who underwent pregnancy, 12 experienced fetal loss. Six individuals had thrombocytopenia and four others had migraines.
