name:
Anti-cardiolipin antibody from a patient with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) recognizes only an epitope expressed by cardiolipin/beta 2-glycoprotein-I (beta 2GPI) complex and induces APS.
description:
Human affinity-purified antibodies were able to induce experiential anti-phospholipid syndrome in mice, with increased coagulation time, thrombocytopenia, and increased fetal resorptions. The murine antibodies also bound to cardiolipin complexed with beta 2 glycoprotein I.
