name:
The relationship of anticardiolipin antibodies to disease activity in systemic lupus erythematosus.
description:
Sera from SLE patients contained significantly higher levels of epitope-specific Ab than sera from healthy subjects and rheumatoid arthritis patients. Marked fluctuations in epitope-specific Ab levels were observed in most SLE patients monitored at regular intervals. Up to 10-fold elevations within 4 weeks were noted in some cases. Increased epitope-specific Ab had 70% specificity for SLE patients and correlated with renal disease.
