3) galactose epitopes in squamous cells of the uterine cervix infected by human papillomavirus.-->
name:
Abnormal expression of galactosyl(alpha 1-->3) galactose epitopes in squamous cells of the uterine cervix infected by human papillomavirus.
description:
An avidin-biotin-peroxidase assay with the epitope-specific mAb antibody was strongly positive in 5 of 12 cervical biopsy samples with features of human papillomavirus infection (HPV) and different stages of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Staining was observed in biopsy samples of 3 of 4 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 3 patients, one CIN2 patient, and one patient with HPV infection without evidence of cancer. No staining was seen in biopsy samples of patients with invasive squamous cervical carcinoma and invasive cervical adenocarcinoma.
