The epitope structure is partially defined in this reference. A more complete structure was defined in Yamasaki et al, J Biol Chem. 1999 274:36550 [PMID: 10593954].
The epitope-specific mAb 2C7 was used as a competitor of binding to gonococcal LOS by human sera. A significant proportion of the IgG reactivity in convalescent infected donors could be competed, while the acute infected patients were not reactive.
