| name: |
Direct evaluation of the immunodominance of a major antigenic site of foot-and-mouth disease virus in a natural host.
|
| description: |
VP1, for which amino acid sequence positions are given in the paper, is processed from the larger polyprotein, the sequence of which appears in the database.
The epitope when used in immunoblots included a carboxy-terminal C. When the response to the epitope of sera from convalescent animals that had been infected with FMDV was compared to response to the virus in immunoblots, all sera had reactivity ratios greater than 0.1 (0.11-0.3), indicating that a portion of the immune response was directed against the epitope. Two of the sera were pooled from two animals or three animals each, and each pooled group is here considered as one unit.
