Effective synthetic peptide vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease in swine.
description:
This epitope is a consensus sequence from six serotype O strains for amino acids 129-169, and is most similar to O TWN/2/99, from which it differs by three amino acids. The consensus sequence also includes two cystines that permit cyclization.
Sera from guinea pigs immunized with the O consensus peptide linked to a mixture of two measles-derived T-helper epitopes were able to neutralize virus from another serotype, Asia 1.
