name:
The GPRLQPY motif located at the carboxy-terminal of the spike protein induces antibodies that neutralize Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus.
description:
Mice immunized with the S-CT24 peptide (ACFSGCCRGPRLQPYEAFQKVHVQ) containing the GPRLQPY epitope motif showed strong reactivity to the epitope containing peptide, and intermediate reactivity to the whole virus. By contrast, immunization with the same peptide S-CT-27 (ACFSGCCREAFQKVHVQ) minus this motif failed to show reactivity against the whole virus or the S-CT24 peptide. The authors thus deduced the GPRLQPY motif found in the C-terminal region of the spike protein as the antigenic site.
