description:	The epitope is described in the cited reference Li and Yang (1990) Virology 178:552 [PMID: 2171194]. Removal of several of the outer capsid proteins of bluetongue virus leaves a bluetongue virus core particle whose surface layer is composed entirely of VP7, with other viral proteins and genomic RNA within. Rabbit antibody raised against the BTV-13 epitope ARQPYGFFLETEEVYQPG reacted weakly with heterotypic BTV-1 VP7 in core particles. The homologous peptide within BTV-1 VP7 is ARQPYGFFLETEETYQPG.
