The epitope sequence recognized by 15 mAbs was deduced through study of chimeric GP4 protein of LV and the US isolate VR2332 transfected into BHK-21 cells. The mAbs recognized constructs containing the epitope residues 40-79 of LV fused to residues 1-39 and 76-178 of VR2332 GP4, but did not recognize VR2332 GP4. The mAbs recognized LV GP4 protein in Western blots.
